Year 12 student Ryan Oosthuizen wants to subtly spread the aroma of the gospel.
Key points:
• After the tragic loss of his brother, Year 12 student Ryan Oosthuizen felt called by God to start a fragrance company that shares the message of Christ.
• His brand, Blessings of The Lord, is inspired by Scripture and includes a gospel message with every purchase.
• Ryan hopes to gently introduce people to Jesus through scent, believing even small acts can spread the pleasing aroma of Christ.
As Ryan Oosthuizen begins Year 12 in 2026, he also is running his own fragrance company.
The 17-year-old from Perth created Blessings of The Lord two years ago after a family tragedy and a distinct divine directive.
“A couple of years ago, I lost my brother in a car accident,” Ryan told Hope Mornings.
“I didn’t want that to stop my life, to just stop me in my tracks.”

At such a painful point, Ryan “got a vision from God”.
“He showed me that he wanted me to start a fragrance company in his name – to spread the word of God around through these fragrances.”
Ryan already was a fan of fragrances. But it is one thing to have a passion for scents; another to create your own company at high school.
Still, the amiable Western Australian teen didn’t hesitate at God’s guidance.
“When I got this message from God I was more than happy,” Ryan said.
“I was like, ‘Cool, if that’s what you want me to do, I’ll do it gladly.'”
The next day, Ryan investigated how to create and distribute fragrances.
He linked with a “white label” company that steered him through the full process of forging Blessings of the Lord.
Ryan believes God left the particular scents up to him but each one has been inspired by Bible passages.
“We have a base Scripture behind our company which is 2 Corinthians 2:15,” Ryan said about the befitting verse: “For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.”
Each fragrance is shipped with a heart for sharing the sweet smell of the gospel.
Every purchase includes a thank you note, complete with a condensed version of the good news Jesus delivers.
“It’s a way to subtly give them the message of God, even if they don’t believe,” Ryan said.
“It’s a way to introduce them to Jesus through something that is not so ‘in their face’.
“I feel like I’m doing my part in sharing the gospel with them.”
