Church Event: MyFriends Training Launch (Eastern Sydney) – City

We are passionate about giving Australians the opportunity to know Jesus personally. Many Aussies are interested in spiritual things, but have little desire to visit a church. So how can they get to know Jesus?

MyFriends helps everyday Christians develop a lifestyle that creates opportunities for their friends and family to discover God’s story together.

MyFriends provides a coaching community that intentionally prays, loves, cares, and shares Jesus with their non-churched friends, family, and colleagues. We’re trusting that Australians will experience Jesus and be ready to discover God’s story together, in their own communities.

Church Event: MyFriends Training Launch (Western Sydney) – Minchinbury

We are passionate about giving Australians the opportunity to know Jesus personally. Many Aussies are interested in spiritual things, but have little desire to visit a church. So how can they get to know Jesus?

MyFriends helps everyday Christians develop a lifestyle that creates opportunities for their friends and family to discover God’s story together.

MyFriends provides a coaching community that intentionally prays, loves, cares, and shares Jesus with their non-churched friends, family, and colleagues. We’re trusting that Australians will experience Jesus and be ready to discover God’s story together, in their own communities.

This launch is for Christians leaders, and ‘everyday’ Christians.

After 10 years of repeatedly dashed hopes, Sheridan and his wife came to a heartbreaking conclusion – their dream of having a child was over. However, God used this broken dream to change and enrich their lives in ways they never could have imagined.

Hear Sheridan share their heartfelt story of loss and new life with honesty and humour, while offering wisdom for recovering from our own broken dreams and reconciling with a God who is “sometimes silent but never absent”.

Theology Event: SMBC Hot Topics – Croydon

HOT TOPIC #10 – WHAT’S SO GOOD ABOUT THE REFORMATION?
Stuart Coulton

The day before All Saints Day 1517, Martin Luther posted a document on a German church’s wall. That’s a long time ago: 500 years, in fact. Surely it’s time to give the Reformation a break and get on with more modern Christian concerns. How can what took place so long ago better help us understand the authority of the Bible and the centrality of grace? Stuart is Principal at SMBC.

SMBC Hot Topics is a series of 10 public talks held on Wednesday evenings to 17 May. These talks are ideal for those who want their hearts and minds challenged.

Theology Event: The dignity of work – Newtown

It’s easy to say ‘Amen’ to Paul’s exhortation to work with all your heart as if working for the Lord. But it’s harder to put it into practice as we trudge off to work each day. For many of us, work takes up a massive chunk of our lives, and yet we often struggle to feel that what we do at work is valuable or significant.

Does our daily work have a worth or dignity of its own? Come to our event to find out.

Church Event: ‘An Uncommon Good’ Conference – Ashfield

The gospel of Christ’s life, death and resurrection set us free. It frees us from God’s wrath and sin’s shame. And it frees us to live in accordance with His will. “Let your light shine before others that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” These were Christ’s words to his followers, and they still have relevance to those who believe in him today. An Uncommon Good wants to equip Christians to act on these words.

How can we as His people have a positive impact? How can God move us to bless those beyond the church – in our places of work and society as a whole? Among our co-workers and the neediest and marginalised of our communities?

National Day of Thanks

Here’s how you can get involved in the National Day of Thanks:

Write a thank-you note to someone who’s made a difference in your life, bake some cupcakes and hand deliver them to your local police station or fire department, or organise an event to thank those who are making a difference in your community.

“There’s something about being thankful. It’s got the oxygen of goodness about it. It crosses the barriers of age and race, gender and culture… Thankfulness takes a refreshing eye off the self and commends the other… Thankfulness is something we show… to our God.” Colin Buchanan – National Day of Thanks Ambassador

Church Event: Watoto Children’s Choir – Toongabbie

The choir, whose members are vulnerable children and orphans, will present worship music from Watoto Church, in Uganda. Through the power of testimony, the children will share stories of how their lives have changed and their call into a life of purpose.

Each story will declare the miracle of transformation – from darkness to light; from despair to hope; from loss to a purpose and; from fear to faith.

Through song, dance, and storytelling the children will proclaim the good news that, salvation is here!
