Families spread out their picnic blankets while the children made the most of fairy floss, face painting, jumping castle and temporary tattoos, before the screening of Big Hero 6 under the evening sky.
The winning entry of Hope 103.2’s Big Hero Short Film Competition was also screened – a movie about a heroic pet labrador – and Channel 9 newsreader Peter Overton’s recorded message before the movie was also a hit.
A light sprinkle of rain before the night began didn’t deter the crowds, and the sky held back its deluge, making it a night to remember.
