Listen: Cam Jones tells Ben McEachen about what kept him afloat during the pandemic and floods

Flood waters are rising again across New South Wales and Queensland, merely weeks after catastrophic damage done in both states.

Like so many others, Cam Jones’ small business was significantly impacted by the floods.

Actually, that’s an understatement. Cam’s small business was ground to a halt.

Cam is founder and director of Spark Futbol, a football (soccer) academy operating in Greater Sydney for junior and youth players.

Although Cam’s home and equipment were not inundated by floodwaters, he had to stop operations due to sodden pitches. He had to close his core business and wait for waters to subside.

Cam told Hope Afternoons that on the back of the lockdowns and restrictions of the pandemic, this year’s floods were another blow to employment and financial security.

But Cam was able to hold on. More than that, he has peace and hope amid such uncertainty and stress.

The source of his comfort and clarity is ancient yet ongoing, as he explained to Hope Afternoons.
