“I had a child and she was still born.”
This raw description of a pivotal, painful point in Melissa’s life was among the first words she shared during her candid interview with Hope Mornings.
Melissa has been a foster carer for eight years. Her own loss and grief at the death of her baby prompted her to offer love and support to children from dysfunctional families.
As she openly explained, such a significant decision was not made lightly or in a hurry.
“It took a lot of me working through my issues and what I had been through,” Melissa told Hope Mornings.
A carer with agency Key Assets in Sydney, Melissa revealed the joys and challenges of being mum to another mother’s children, and what you must know when considering whether to be a foster carer.
