Listen: Sam chats with the hosts of 'Too Peas in a Podcast' about raising kids with additional needs
It started as a passion project but has given thousands of parents a voice and a community that can relate.
On Hope Breakfast, Mandy and Kate discussed their new book The Invisible Life of Us, which they hope will make readers more aware of other people’s lives, and for those living with a disability or are parenting a child with a disability, that they will feel seen.
When talking to Sam Robinson, they shared their encouragement to parents who are homeschooling neurotypical kids, and discussed the importance of reaching out to those parents.
“If you have a friend who has baby twins or children with additional needs or children with a disability, you have to say I know lockdown is hard for me but I’m actually going to take the little strength I have left and send that person a bunch of flowers or a text message… I’m going to let them know that I know it’s tough.
“There’s real power in someone saying to you I know what you’re doing is hard but you’re awesome.”
