Choosing to Worship

In the late 80s, there was a revolution among the Baltic nations of northern Europe. Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania rose up to fight for their independence against the Soviet Union, and they won… without any bloodshed!

How? Theirs was a singing revolution! People gathered by the thousands and sang patriotic songs in the parks and cities as an act of protest. Together, they linked arms and sang about the land they loved in the face of army tanks and bullets; and yes, it really did work! By 1991, each nation had gained its independence.

The Singing Revolution reminds us of one of the weapons God has given us to fight against evil. As we encounter wrongdoing and challenges in our lives, God calls us to worship.

In the face of oppression, we are called to worship

Worship is not just a set of comforting songs that fill a church service. The Scriptures tell us that worship can also be a weapon against the power of our spiritual enemy.

In the face of oppression, we are called to worship. As we link arms and exalt Jesus over our circumstances, we too will see the power of a singing revolution.
