Apparently gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships. Hence, it’s interesting that the Bible commands people to be thankful.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”.
The Christian message encourages thankfulness mainly because the Gospel message is such good news. Though undeserving, Christ died for sinners to provide forgiveness and freedom from sin, and peace from all our mistakes and failings. Then Christ was raised from the dead to give new life, hope and purpose for the future and the joy of eternal life with him.
That’s a lot to be thankful for.
