Listen: Christine Anu chats to Sam and Duncan on Hope Breakfast
In 2012 Anu released her album Rewind: The Aretha Franklin Songbook, accompanied by a tour, as a tribute to Franklin’s music, on her 70th birthday. Now, a year after Aretha Franklin’s passing, Anu is launching a new tour of the album, in memory of the woman known as the “Queen of Soul”.
Chatting to Sam and Duncan on Hope Breakfast about the show, she talked about her passion for Aretha Franklin’s music, as well as her voice for indigenous issues in Australia.
The show will include some of Franklin’s most powerful hits, including (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Angel, Today I Sing The Blues, Respect and many more. Anu will also sing songs from her back-catalogue of pop hits.
The tour will take in Parramatta Riverside Theatre (August 24), the Vanguard at Newtown (November 9), Cronulla (September 19), Canberra, and regional centres like Fremantle, Weribee, Tumut and Coffs Harbour. Tickets through individual venues.
