The film telling of the classic children’s story of the same name by Maurice Sendak. The young, riotous Max learns that though there is a great deal of initial enjoyment associated with rebellion, there is nothing quite as attractive as his real home and the relationship waiting there.

The potential for Christian parallels is very strong. However parents should be aware that Max’s journey into his imaginary world is no trip to Narnia. The film is at times much too threatening in tone for kids who might enjoy the book. There is also a real-world instability about Max’s family life that, though realistic, might be equally upsetting for younger minds.
