Audio: Stephen O’Doherty in conversation with Professor Gordon Parker

Professor Gordon Parker is well known as an eminent psychiatrist and as the founder of the Black Dog Institute.

Early in his career, he was drawn to become a writer and published a novel. Fifty years later he has published the second. His novel In Two Minds doesn’t completely abandon his professional interests, providing a touching, sometimes funny account of bipolar disorder.

In the way depression has largely been de-stigmatised, resulting in better understanding and treatment, Professor Parker believes we now need a greater focus on bipolar, or manic depression.
