As apartheid was ending in the 1990s, a new national hero was emerging in South Africa. His name was Hansie Cronje – a batting genius and outspoken Christian who captained his nation’s cricket team to the top of the world ladder.

But Cronje’s fame came crashing down in 2000, when stories emerged of his involvement with Indian bookmakers. Even more devastating was the plane crash two years later that ended his life at just 32 years of age.

Now, Hansie’s story has been made into a feature film, written and produced by his older brother Frans. And surprisingly, it’s a story of great hope. Frans is in Australia for the film’s launch and he joined us in the studio.
