In the style of “Pay It Forward”, a mystery woman known only as Laura has paid another woman’s parking fine.
The story emerged on the “Canberra Mums” Facebook group yesterday (August 10), where a mum anonymously posted a photo of the parking ticket she’d received after spending days in hospital with her sick newborn.

Needless to say, the ticket was an unwelcome surprise for the mother. However kindness accompanied the parking ticket, in the form of a pink post-it note written on Sunday by a woman called “Laura”, saying she’d paid the fine.
“Hi there,” the note said, “I saw your car had a parking ticket on it, I’m sure whatever you are going through is tough enough for you so I have paid for you…. Hope things get better!” It included the Bpay receipt number as proof of payment.
The very grateful mother said in her Facebook post that a parking ticket was “one more thing that I didn’t need”, and that she hoped the kind Laura would see her post and know “how much I appreciate her support”.
The Story Goes Viral Overnight

The story spread rapidly, attracting more than 15,000 likes in its first five hours, and after being picked up by news media, it now has over 62,000 likes, close to 7,000 shares, and over 2,000 comments. Most comments were by people touched to see such kindness, and sharing their own stories of being hit with hospital carpark fines.
