It’s 1993 in Iran. Christian convert, Mehdi Dibaj is sentenced to death for converting from Islam to Christianity. Pastor Haik Hovsepian speaks out against the death sentence, and the prisoner is released. But a short time later, Pastor Haik’s body is found mutilated by 26 stab wounds.
Today his sons have made a documentary film called A Cry from Iran, about their father’s struggle and subsequent martyrdom. Andre Horvsepian is Pastor Haik’s son and the director of the film. He was just ten years old when his father was killed. Today he travels the world with his family, sharing his father’s story and what it’s like to be a Christian in Iran.
Listen Now – Andre Hovsepian spoke to Katrina Roe about his memories of that turbulent time
