Thank you Hopeland, your generosity is sending 109 kids whose families are doing it tough in drought-affected NSW, to summer camps with Scripture Union!

With our farming communities struggling from drought, the Hope 103.2 team wanted to see how we could make a difference for some families doing it tough.

So we partnered with Scripture Union, to help kids from country families got to summer camp this holidays.

We called on the ‘Hopeland’ community of Hope 103.2 listeners to do their bit, to help send students to week-long summer camps, filled with sports, games, music, camping out, and Christian ministry.

Our appeal began on Monday, raising funds for 25 young people from Gilgandra High School to the Chaffey Dam Water Sports Camp. You stepped up and gave above and beyond!

Students were invited by Scripture Union high school groups across the region – in Inverell, Narrabri, Wee Waa, Glenn Innes, Guyra, Tenterfield, Uralla, Moree and Armidale. Activities at the Pindari Dam camp will include boating, desert buggies, abseiling, flying fox and more. By supporting this camp we were able to bring some unexpected and much-needed joy to families in need over the Christmas holiday period.

Glenn Coombs from Scripture Union told Hope 103.2 the camp is not just for kids from farming families. “It might be a shearer’s kid, or a mechanic’s kid, it could be any young people in these areas [who come on camp], because there’s no money coming into the communities through farming.” The camp will include Bible talks and a chance to grow in faith, however students from any background, faith or no faith, are welcome to attend.

Hope 103.2 and Scripture Union thank you for generously getting behind the appeal.

Pray for Families in Drought-Affected NSW

Hope 103.2 is encouraging people of faith to pray – for long-term rain that breaks the drought, for financial relief, and for emotional and practical help to reach those who are in need. Pray also for the students who will attend Summer Camps, and their families, that the experience will bring encouragement, life, and joy where it’s needed most.
