Listen: Saroo and his adopted mother Sue talk about the ins-and-outs of overseas adoption and his incredible 'Lion' story

Saroo Brierly has lived a one-of-a-kind life. He was born in India and when he was five years old he got lost on the country’s complex train network after a night out working with his older brother.

He survived for weeks on the streets, before being taken into an orphanage and adopted by his Australian family. Years later, he miraculously found his birth mother, and his story of hope and endurance became an international bestseller and an award-winning film – Lion – starring Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel.

Now, his story has been turned into a stunning picture book for children called Little Lion: A Long Way Home.
