I want to continue my theme from Part 1—and that is God knows how you feel. Not everyone will understand what’s going on for you, but you can rely on God our Heavenly Father.

I said before that God is your friend, who loves and accepts you, and knows everything about you. David the Psalmist wrote in Psalm 139 (CEV), “You have looked deep into my heart, Lord, and you know all about me”. That means God knows everything perfectly—God doesn’t just know about stuff, he knows you. His knowledge is personal. He has studied you until he knows you thoroughly.

There Is Nothing Hidden from God

God is not impersonal to David. He is very personal—too personal, perhaps. He searches him and knows him perfectly. There is nothing hidden from the knowledge of God, so that there can be no excuses, justifications or fabrications. This is an important truth to understand.

There are those, I suppose, who think that because they have hidden something from others, they have hidden it from God. Nothing could be further from the truth. God has perfect knowledge, and he is everywhere at once. We often think of the vast expanse of the cosmos. We are told that there are one billion stars in one galaxy, and one billion galaxies in the universe. That God is not only aware of every star and planet, but is the Power which keeps each one operating, is beyond our ability to understand. He knows each star by name.

But what about the inner cosmos? Is not God also aware of every orbiting particle in every atom in each of our bodies? Is his mind not greater and his knowledge of us deeper than we can ever understand? This is simply staggering to think about. That God knows and loves me as an individual—and he knows how I feel.

God Experienced all Human Emotions Through Jesus

And especially I want to say that God has experienced life through Jesus. God came down to this earth! He created and lived life as one of his creations. He experienced sadness, joy, heartache, anger, all the emotions that we do. But no matter what happened to him here on earth, Jesus did not sin. That’s what we need to remember as we go through life.

God has experienced all that we go through. We do not have a Creator who can’t understand what it is like to go through each and everyday as a human. During Jesus’ earthly ministry, he chose 12 disciples, or students. Their task was to learn about him and follow his example.

It wasn’t enough that they saw what Jesus did; they needed to understand why and how. Why? He loved them. Jesus was human so he knew what they were feeling and how to address their concerns so they would know how to carry on after his crucifixion.

And today, Jesus can teach us, reaching out to us in love and mercy. And, just like his disciples, he understands how we are feeling and just how to deal with it. It’s not an easy thing to find someone who really knows what is going on inside your mind. God knew that and sent our Saviour into the world.

God Can Restore the Broken Pieces of Our Lives

He knows about the lonely people—those who have no friends. No one wants to travel this earthly road alone and God doesn’t either. He created us to enjoy a relationship with him. When you need someone to talk to about your problems, he is always there to listen. You may be thinking that this is all well and good, but you still crave human companionship. When you seek intimacy with God first, he will give you everything that you need including a human friend, and possibly a soul mate. Ask him to bring someone into your life to share life’s experiences with you.

And there are those who are broken. Our own lives can get broken through our own choices and/or that of others. There is a story in the Bible that compares God to a potter. We are the soft moist clay that is on his wheel being shaped into whatever he desires. The potter doesn’t only create; he also fixes broken things. God takes the broken pieces of our lives and reshapes us with his loving hands. But, before he can do that, you have to be willing to give him the pieces: your anger, resentment, hopelessness, despair and frustration.

Maybe today you feel you’re a victim. Even though we know that God gives all of us free will, it is still hard to understand why bad things happen. When you’re the victim, you want to find justice for your suffering. The first step begins with your relationship to God. God works on your heart to help you deal with the situation so that you can continue to live victoriously.
