This week in Breakfast with Sam & Duncan, Sam has crafted a moving ode to the humble pillow.
Listen: Sam’s Poem to… the Pillow
A Poem to the Pillow
It’s the end of another day, feeling somewhat weary,
Cleaning up the kitchen, trying to stay cheery,
But when the toys are all packed up, and I’ve tidied all required,
I shift myself off to bed to see my awakened self retire.
The bed is a glorious invention, but one thing takes the cake,
It isn’t the doona which is kicked off like a rejected keepsake,
It isn’t the sheets, or bed frame under which a vacuum cannot creep,
It’s the age old device that is designed to help you better sleep.
Because when I seek a place to rest my weary head,
Peeping from the covers, you’re the welcome mat of bed,
You cushion my cranium with the softness of filo,
So thank you, sleep-inducing soft white pillow.
