Listen: Sam’s Poem to… Books. Just in time for Book Week
A Poem to Books
A week of leave – what true delight – no alarms to set,
And a perfect opportunity to embrace the alphabet,
But I don’t want your A to Z, sung by Muppets on a Street,
I want letters carved into words, sentences on a sheet.
For how else can you go on an adventure without leaving your home,
Metaphors and imagery cause my imagination to roam,
I sink deep into worlds far flung, with mysteries to unravel,
It’s the best way to get lost, and the only way to time travel.
Within the local library is a treasure trove of words,
Non-fiction informational, and fiction quite absurd,
An alternative to screen time, my phone I overlook,
To read you, word-filled breathtaking book.
