Many callers have shared touching stories of grief, loss, loneliness, depression and other mental health struggles—and how the radio station has helped them through those seasons.
Here’s just a few.

“We’ve had a really tough six months,” said Jane. “My daughter was diagnosed with a mental illness; she was diagnosed with anorexia about six months ago. She was only 11 years old.
“We’ve had a really, really tough journey with her being in hospital, and the impact it’s had on our family and other people has been pretty major.
“It’s really hard to see a little girl go through such torment.”

Jane said she turns Hope 103.2 on the radio whenever her daughter is in the car with her, and was grateful for its positive influence.
“I just know it’s an opportunity to speak truth and hope and love in her life,” she said.
“I know there’s a lot of people out there living with mental health issues. What you do makes a difference in their lives and [helps us] be real and honest with each other and deal with that. You’re playing a big part in that.”

Maria was in the middle of a painful time in her marriage and family when she first discovered Hope 103.2 about 10 years ago.
“I started listening to you in 2005 just by chance as I was driving,” she said. “At that time I was in the middle of being separated and divorced and having a child with special needs as well.
She said Hope stood out as a radio station with a difference.
“Going through the radio stations I would hear negativity, and I came across Hope, and thought, “that’s a really good song”—it had really good meaning and words, so I just kept coming back to you.
“It was always positive and always gave me strength and hope at that time.”
“You’re there every day, you’re part of my life. Thankyou for being there. I can’t imagine my life without you.

The journey of grief has been an “unbearable” time for Geraldine, but messages of hope have helped her get through.
“We had quite a sad event in our family,” she said. “I lost my father-in-law and my mother, within two weeks of each other.
“It was at that time that I realised I didn’t listen to other radio stations any more, and my focus turned to Hope 103.2.
“I wanted to say thankyou for helping me get through that grief and that unbearable journey. I think we all need that extra piece of hope to get us through our days.”
“Encouraged Me During Postnatal Depression” – Maree

Maree was finding it hard to open up about her battle with postnatal depression.
That was until she turned on Hope 103.2.
“A segment I heard last year was talking about postnatal depression,” said Maree. “It gave me encouragement to go and seek a bit of help with that—which I wouldn’t have done otherwise.”
Maree was also thankful to win a Hope 103.2 competition and receive a double pass to the movie War Room.
“The day we went and saw it, my husband and I were having a fight, outside the cinema,” she said. “Then we saw it, and thought, “we needed to see that movie!”.”
She added that Hope 103.2 is the one radio station that doesn’t make her feel “aggro”.
“Being a parent at home with kids and turning on the radio and not getting any adult stuff, is good,” she said.
“Lifts Me Up When I’m Alone” – John

As a dad, a husband and a businessman, John finds Hope 103.2 encouraging in many ways.
“It means so much to me and my family, my wife and two teenagers,” he said. “It’s amazing how God has worked for us through the station.
“I travel a lot on business, and when I’m away from home away from my family, all I need is some wi-fi [to listen online], and I’m close to my family and close to the Lord.
“There’s times when you may doubt or think you’re the only one going through something, and then along comes [the radio segment] “Focus On The Family” or some song that lifts you up, or a devotion.
“It’s a wonderful ministry that God’s using, that stretches beyond the confines of Sydney.”
