Bart Campolo is a man who lives and breathes a thing called “urban ministry”. For more than 20 years, he’s been lending a hand to the down-and-out in suburbs and city streets. And, just like his father Tony Campolo, he’s passionate about teaching other people to do the same.

Lately, Bart’s love for the poor has been put to the test, in a suburb of downtown Cincinatti called Walnut Hills, known for its shootings, drug problems and racial tension.

Here, he leads a little band of believers in a very sleeves-rolled-up kind of faith, loving the addicted, the homeless, the wayward teens and struggling single mums.

It’s no easy call. He’s had gunmen running through his own backyard! Bart Campolo, joined Open House to talk about life in the burbs.
