Walking through Sydney City on any given day, it’s surprising just how many homeless you’ll see bedded down from the night before, or setting up for the day on the sidewalk.
Habitually we walk past them, sometimes thinking to give or find a way to support; other times numb to their need and familiar with their presence.
When we consider that over 100,000 Australians are homeless* (with almost 30,000 in NSW alone*), the opportunity for action is not one to ignore.
Media professional and homeless advocate Kate Snowden recently gave a TEDx talk on rethinking homelessness, and caught up with Mornings’ host Katrina Roe to discuss her new app ‘Going Home‘.
Developed to help the homeless, Kate explained key features of the app, touching on the needs of our city’s homeless and misconceptions we tend to have about them.
