“People are fatigued and tired of it, but Ukraine has already proven their will to fight and have what it takes to fight. They are determined to keep their freedom and that has given people hope,” missionary Rhonda Blessing said.

This week marked six months since Russia launched its invasion into Ukraine. It also marks 31 years of independence from the Soviet Union.

The country has been preparing for ramped-up attacks by Russia ahead of the double anniversary, with officials in Kyiv and other cities banning public Independence Day celebrations.

Mark and Rhonda Blessing have been missionaries in Ukraine for more than 20 years, and they joined Hope Breakfast to share about what day-to-day life has looked like since the invasion.

“People want to live life as normal as possible,” Rhonda said.
