When we think of sustainability, it often involves reverting back to older, simpler ways of doing things. But sometimes, technology can help us be more sustainable – especially when it comes to keeping up with recycling.

Smart Bin Tech is a new technology that sorts recyclable materials into correct groups using artificial intelligence. Developed by University of Technology Sydney and the CSIRO, the research is part of CSIRO’s Ending Plastic Waste Mission, which has a goal of an 80 per cent reduction of plastic waste entering the Aussie environment by 2030.

Geoff Quattromani from the Technology Uncorked Podcast joined Hope Drive to discuss the new technology, how it will be used in the future and how we can improve our recycling habits at home.
