Emergency doctor Arsalan Hermiz did not learn to swim as a child.

Born and raised in Iraq, Arsalan had few opportunities to splash about before moving to Australia.

When Arsalan’s children became old enough to learn to swim, he made a bold move for a man in his 40s. He decided to also take the plunge.

Speaking to Hope Mornings, Arsalan had to overcome fear and doubt to get in the pool.

He said he’s glad he did and would encourage other adults to also give it a go.
