For a guy who stars in a TV show about vampires, Nathaniel Buzolic sure talks about Jesus a whole lot.
The Aussie-born actor started out with local TV roles on shows like Home & Away, All Saints and Out of the Blue—and now he’s a Hollywood hit, starring in American teen TV hits like The Vampire Diaries; The Originals, and Pretty Little Liars.
His 2 million Instagram followers (@natebuzz) prove he’s a showbiz ‘somebody’, but that sure isn’t what he wanted to focus on in our chat on Hope Breakfast. Nate isn’t so interested in the media conferences, Hollywood gossip and paparazzi, although they’re a part of his working life.
Our questions on acting rapidly turned to questions about faith, humility, and the need for Jesus.
The main message Nathaniel wants to share is for people to take their focus off themselves, and onto Jesus’s love. In fact he’s more excited about his other Instagram account “Tagged by Jesus” than his own.
In our in-studio interview, questions on acting rapidly turned to questions about faith, humility, and the need for Jesus. Being a Christian in Hollywood is incredibly hard, says Nathaniel. It’s an environment where you are persecuted and opposed. His faith is an important part of surviving that culture.
Nathaniel is also an outspoken advocate for refugees and supporter of the Middle East based charity Preemptive Love Coalition. His own mother was a refugee as a child.
While our chat is a serious one, we have fun too. Stick around to the end, where we get Nathaniel to ‘cold-read’ a few script lines from a new, lesser-known character in the DC Universe!
