According to Michael Frost, a radical rediscovery of Jesus in all his fullness changes the way we think about God, the Church and the world. Grasp this and life begins to look very different.
In past weeks we have looked at how the popular images of Jesus short-change him. The Bible’s claim Jesus was ‘truly God and truly man’ and living lives that synchronise with our beliefs.
In a well-known verse in the book of Revelation Jesus says these words: ‘Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.’
It’s a touching verse that we often read personally—Jesus will come into our hearts if we just let him. Actually, Jesus is speaking these words to a church, the spiritually lukewarm church of early Laodicea. He’s standing outside a Christian church, wanting to be invited back in.
