Today, as we take some time together, time with God, focused on him, seeing what he has to say to us, we’re looking this week at this great theme that Jesus, who came into our world once already, who has existed forever with God the Father as God the Son.
And came into our world, was born of the Virgin Mary, lived that amazing life, miraculous life, full of the power of God at work and yet perfect and sinless, who died in our place so that we could be forgiven and have a beautiful relationship with God now, not just that we would try to live a good life, but that we’d have a living relationship with God, that that same Jesus is coming back one day.
It says in Acts chapter one.
After Jesus had risen from the dead and had spent about 40 days with the disciples, it says in verse 9, after he said these things, he was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received him out of their sight.
And as they were gazing intently into the sky while he was departing as you would, wouldn’t you? As they were gazing intently into the sky while he was departing, behold, two men in white clothing.
These were angels stood beside them, and they also said Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky?
This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come in just the same way as you have watched him go into heaven.

So Jesus’ return to this earth will be a literal physical return. It’s not just talking about Jesus being present in the hearts and lives of people who have a living relationship with Him. No, Jesus will physically return to this world. And in Matthew chapter 26, Jesus says to the high priest, You will see the Son of Man. That’s Jesus.
You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the power and coming on the clouds of heaven.
In another place, the Bible says that every eye will see him.
And it also says that when they do, every knee will bow before him. Everyone will know who he really is.
In Matthew 24, it talks about Jesus coming and actually the whole chapter is fascinating to read as it talks about some of the signs of the end times that show that Jesus’ coming is approaching.
But he says in verse 25, Jesus speaking, Behold, I have told you in advance. If therefore they say to you, Behold, Jesus is in the wilderness, do not go forth, or behold, he’s in the inner rooms. Do not believe them. For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.
And so his return will be unexpected, yes, people will not be prepared for it, and yet it’ll be very quick, and everyone will be aware that Jesus Christ has returned to this world.
What are you doing to be ready for Jesus’ return? Well, the best thing you can do is to love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, to honour Him with your life, and especially to share Him with other people. What a beautiful thing it is to have a living relationship with God. That’s something you shouldn’t keep to yourself. You should freely share it with everyone around you.
