We start our day right when we spend time with God at the beginning of each day.
Time with God.
Time. It’s a precious commodity, isn’t it?
It’s hard to give time for things that are not urgent and pressing on us.
Time with God. There’s the most amazing thing of all, that God, the Supreme Being, the Creator of the universe, the One who holds all things in the palm of His hand. He wants to spend time with me, personal time. He wants to interact with me about my day. He wants to reveal Himself to me a little bit more. He wants me to get to know Him. And he wants to relate to me as well.
How foolish we would be not to spend time with God when He offers it to us.
We’re looking at Psalm 119, and today we come to verse 89 where the psalmist says:
Forever, O Lord, your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations. You established the earth, and it stands.
They stand this day according to your ordinances, for all things are your servants. If your law had not been my delight, then I would have perished in my affliction.

I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me. I am yours. Save me, for I have sought your precepts. The wicked wait for me to destroy me.
I shall diligently consider your testimonies. I have seen a limit to all perfection. Your commandment is exceedingly broad.
Isn’t that a beautiful little passage? Forever, O Lord, your word is settled in heaven.
When God says something – that’s it. It’s settled forever. If God has made a promise, it’s settled forever. If God has given a command, if God has expressed a prophecy about the future, if God reveals to you what He desires in your life, that’s it. It settled in heaven forever.
And not only is it settled once and for all, but as the next verse says, your faithfulness, God’s commitment to the things He has said, continues throughout all generations that includes this generation.
Right now you can depend on the Word of God in your life. That’s why you need to learn God’s Word. If God has said something and it’s absolutely certain, shouldn’t you learn about it? If God’s revealed Himself in His Word, shouldn’t you study it? Isn’t it worth taking time to get to know what God has said?
What could oppose God’s purposes once He has said something.
As he says in verse 91.
They, that is all things stand this day according to your ordinances, for all things are your servants. Nothing can oppose God. All things are your servants, even when the enemies of God, whether they’re spiritual forces or people, when they do things to oppose God, God can even take those things that they do and turn them around to work His purposes.
Even through the evil things that people do – God – His word is settled in heaven forever.
Why don’t you take some time and read his Word today?
