Are You greater than our father Abraham, who is dead? And the prophets are dead. Who do You make Yourself out to be?” …. Then the Jews said to Him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” JOHN 8:53, 57-58 (NKJV)

In John’s Gospel, Jesus slowly reveals Himself to His followers and listeners. In this passage He reveals His eternal being as not only existing before Abraham was [2000 years before hand], but Jesus is NOW. The I AM, God the Son, outside of time. And for all eternity.

And there are huge ramifications of that for mankind, for history and especially for the believer.

Interestingly scientists are currently debating ‘what is time’.

Interestingly scientists are currently debating ‘what is time’. The debate centres around scientific formulas such as Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and the concept of space-time and does gravity affect time.

Colossians 1:15, 16 says – ‘He [Christ] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him’. This implies that He also created time.

So for the believer, Jesus Christ is in all our days, in our yesterdays and our tomorrows. Nothing is beyond His reach or understanding. And so by faith we invite Him into our daily lives, to lead and guide. We also joyfully invite Him to heal our past and strengthen us for all of our tomorrows.
