Everyone seemed to breathe a collective gasp at the release of a black hole photograph recently.

Getting a look at the “gentle giant” at the heart of our Milky Way galaxy is, apparently, a really big deal.

But why?

Luke Barnes is a lecturer in physics at Western Sydney University, with a PhD in astronomy from University of Cambridge. He also is part of the ISCAST network of Christians in Science and Technology.

Luke spoke with Hope Mornings about the importance of this space image, why Albert Einstein would be particularly chuffed with it, and what God makes of all this fuss about a black hole selfie.
