With a budget of around $200 million, the new Channel 7 mini-series The Pacific is one of the most expensive ever made in Australia. It was filmed here, and includes famous Aussie faces like Gary Sweet and Zoe Carrides in on-screen roles.

But it’s no Kokoda or Gallipoli. This Steven-Spielberg production is focused squarely on the American experience of World War II. Mark Hadley’s been watching along with 1.7 million other Aussies.
