Brodie Moore was seventeen years old when he joined the Australian Defence Force.

He served as a rifleman in the 6th battalion Royal Australian Regiment for six years, before being deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 on Mentoring Task Force One (MTF-1), where he trained the Afghan National Army to defend their nation from the Taliban.

Now a veteran, Brodie has watched far too many soldiers lose their lives to suicide after returning home – some from his own battle group – due to lack of support transitioning back into civilian life.

Brodie is now a nurse for Veteran Benefits Australia, a program which connects veterans with healthcare providers, mental health support and community programs – easliy and quickly. Veteran Benefits deal with the complexities of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs so soldiers don’t have to – and can focus completely on their health and wellbeing after serving.

Brodie joined Hope Drive and shared what has helped him transition back into civilian life and how we can all support veterans in our community ahead of ANZAC Day.
