Cheryl Leutjen is a geologist and environmental law attorney who believes acting in an eco-conscious manner is better inspired by a genuine love for the natural world and our place in it, rather than guilt.

“It’s so much more encouraging to come to a place of feeling good,” Cheryl told Hope 103.2’s UNDISTRACTED podcast.

“Sitting and noticing what I really appreciate looking out my window or going on a hike [is more helpful] than feeling guilty about the things I can’t do anything about.”

In her book ‘Love Earth Now’, Cheryl offers a candid insight into her own flawed – and at times humourous – journey to leading an eco-friendlier lifestyle while also catering to the realities of modern life and her own limitations.

“I really recommend that we embrace the power of the small,” Cheryl said.

“It’s in the day-to-day small things that we make a life and that we make our contributions.”

“I have to remind myself that there’s 7 billion people on the planet and we all come to this earth with our gifts, our abilities, our time, our resources,” Cheryl said.

“Just because there’s so many things I can’t do anything about, I know there’s a lot of people on this planet who are doing things about them.”
