Being in and around water is part of the Australian lifestyle, but with COVID lockdowns and restrictions over the past two years a lot of parents and carers made changes to their children’s swimming lesson routines.
With the majority of Australia’s population living within 50km of the coast, learning to swim should be a necessity for any child. Yet alarmingly, the SWIMSAFER Report commissioned by Swim Australia discovered more than half (56 per cent) of Aussie parents were unsure if their child could get themselves to safety in a water emergency, and over a third (35 per cent) of parents were not confident of their own swimming skills in an emergency water situation.
Swim Australia CEO Brendan Ward shared on Hope Breakfast with Ally & Brendan about the importance of water safety and raising awareness during SwimSafer Week 2022.
