OK, so superheroes are not actually dead. Our big and small screens continue to be stuffed with them from The Eternals to the Venom sequel.

In fact, during the past minute or so, another Marvel or DC TV show probably started up, too.

But Dr Barron Bell has noticed something deadly about superhero movies and TV shows. Of late, they have been turning to the dark side. Be it Oscar-winning Joker or Deadpool 2 and The Suicide Squad, Bell has observed a “race to the bottom” when it comes to the morality of screen superheroes.

Bell is a university professor of art and design. He’s also a comic-book artist – check out Dominion: Fall of the House of Saul – who co-leads Terminus Media, a faith-based publisher.

Bell declared The Death of the Superhero recently and Hope Afternoons spoke with him to ask: “So, who did it? Who killed superheroes?” and is there a way back for superheroes, according to Bell?
