For the past few months, Hope Mornings’ Ben McEachen has been putting out a call to Hopeland: what small contribution can we all make to the lives of those around us?
Key points:
  • Each suggestion is deliberately small and achievable but could add up to a big difference in our communities.
  • When we know that others are also doing these things, perhaps that inspires us to not procrastinate doing these helpful activities.
  • To get involved with Hope Mornings Impact, tune in to Hope Mornings with Ben McEachen from 9am-12pm weekdays.

And the response has been heart-warming.

I caught up with Ben to chat about Hope Impact and to find out why this is so important to him.

What is Hope Mornings Impact?

Every week, I suggest something small that we can be part of. Something that could positively contribute to our lives or the lives of those around us.

What kinds of challenges have you done so far?

So far, we’ve tried:

Leave the car at home and walk, run, ride or take public transport.

Send a message of encouragement.

“Every week, I suggest something small that we can be part of. Something that could positively contribute to our lives or the lives of those around us,” Ben said.

What inspired you to start doing this?

Hope 103.2 is a community of people who enjoy caring for others. I wanted to find simple and manageable ways to encourage all of us to keep doing that.

When we know that others are also doing these things at the same time, perhaps that will inspire us to not procrastinate or delay doing these helpful activities.

What’s your favourite Hopelander impact so far?

One member of the Hope community had clothing in a bag in her boot. For weeks, she had been meaning to drop them off at a second-hand shop.

When we know that others are also doing these things, perhaps that inspires us to not procrastinate doing these helpful activities.

She finally did it, after being prompted by Hope Mornings Impact encouraging all of us to give away clothing.

What’s your goal for Hope Mornings Impact?

To do as much good as we can, to as many people as we can. Little things can add up to a lot when we all join together.

Hope Mornings Impact each week can also be a steppingstone to bigger community projects.

Perhaps the weekly encouragement to unite through positive activities will expand to major works for a local area, social service or charity.
