Wanted: Your Food and Toys. Love, The Salvos

The Salvos NSW Public Relations Secretary David Collinson has been involved with the Food and Toy Drives since birth.

You and others also can be part of gathering up gifts to be placed under someone else’s Christmas tree.

As David told Hope Afternoons, the Salvos’ Food and Toy collections can be hosted at churches, homes, workplaces or wherever you are able to gather up donated items.

Next, you and the Salvos sort out where they can be dropped off, so the Salvos can deliver them.

Given the few years we have all had, the need for food and toy donations this Christmas is heightened. But David believed the pandemic also caused more of us to look beyond ourselves and such an increase in altruism boded well for Food and Toy Drives across the country.

“I’m aware that studies have been done, saying that people are thinking differently about the world around them,” David said.

“People are more community minded than they ever before.”
