International attention has focused on the actions of a Minneapolis police officer following the death of Australian Justine Damon who had called 911 for help.

Each year between one and two thousand Americans die during a police operation, although official figures put the number in the low hundreds.

Journalist Brian Burghart discovered there is no reliable published data showing the full extent of deaths during police actions in the USA. Based on public sources his database is showing interesting differences between States. Could this be evidence of different policing cultures?
