In the latest episode of his podcast conversations, John Anderson explores this issue with international security and technology expert Klon Kitchen.
Kitchen unpacks the impact of technology on the American social contract and its role in contemporary warfare, including the role some “Big Tech” companies have played in supporting Ukraine in their war with Putin’s Russia.
“Those in the West – we’re not the only good people on earth – but we have a moral foundation and a philosophical, and even a theological framework, that understands notion of good,” according to Kitchen, who is a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI).
Kitchen focuses on the intersection of national security and defence technologies and innovation.
Through his research, he works to understand and explain how emerging technologies are shaping modern intelligence, and warfighting. He also focuses upon cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, robotics, and quantum sciences.
Before joining AEI, Klon was director of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Technology Policy and was former national security advisor to a US Senator.
John and Klon also discuss the significant challenges presented by China’s cyberwarfare capabilities, infrastructure-based espionage, and social credit system.
