A service was held for him on Monday at the University of Wollongong.

On Tuesday 1 May, his wife Madison Tougher, wrote on Facebook: “To our friends, family and strangers who have reached out to us over these past few weeks thank you. To the new family we have gained, thank you. Every message, phone call and card has not gone unnoticed. Hold your close ones even closer, give your loved ones that extra kiss and hug. Be kind to yourself & others. Live in the present and be safe. x”
