Lego Batman opens with our hero Batman impressively defeating every known bad guy, and he is clear he doesn’t need anyone’s help – he won’t even acknowledge that the Joker is his arch enemy (that’s Superman btw). But when the Joker opens the Phantom Zone and releases the world’s worst villains, Batman has to learn to rely on Commissioner Gordon’s daughter Barbara, and a super-appreciative orphan named Dick Grayson – better known as Robin.

RATED: Lego Batman is rated PG for Mild Themes and Animated Violence

AUDIENCE: Lego Batman is one for everyone – junior Lego fans, right through to their cash-depleted parents.

WHAT’S GOOD: Batman’s realisation that he grows through being a father, having a son, honouring the man who parented him is well beyond kid stuff and a good thing to put kids in front of.

WHAT’S NOT: There are a few references to adult films – The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings – that might put parents in an awkward space if they’ve been trying to keep their kids from those titles.
SPIRITUALLY SPEAKING: The Lego Batman Movie is tapping into a Christian principle that we were made to exist in a community, that we are stronger together than we are as individuals, that personal goals and desires have to be set aside for the sake of a much more important thing; the family.

RELEASE DATE: March 30, 2017
