When God Gets Your Attention: Part 1 — A ‘Time With God’ Audio Devotion

Here to help you get your day started right as we spend some time with God together.

I know that in my own life, my morning time with the Lord is the greatest key to my Christian life. Because my walk with the Lord depends on my love for the Lord and my faith in Him. And both of those things are built through time spent in God’s Word listening to Him as I see the magnitude of who He is, the incredible strength that He possesses, His ability to do whatever He chooses, and the fact that his choice follows His character and His character is always good.

He is full of love. He is faithful to those who trust in Him. As I see all of that, my faith increases, and as I interact with God, my love for Him increases. And so I hope you learn to make your time with God each morning the foundation of your life.

We want to look this week at the theme of when God gets our attention.

And I just want to read Proverbs 3:5-6, some verses we’ve read in the past on a different theme.

Proverbs says, Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. He will make the direction you need to take obvious to you.

Well, you know, a person can be walking with the Lord and trying to live God’s way and pursue God’s plan for their lives, but they can become distracted by the events around them, the circumstances they find themselves in, or, they can just lose their focus or their sensitivity to the things of God, and they can miss God’s prompting and end up making decisions that are wrong and start heading in the wrong direction in their lives.

But if they’re honest and they look back, usually they can see that there was a nudge from God that they missed. Here’s the promise from God. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

You may not always have a clear sense and knowledge of exactly what it is God wants you to do, but there will be the assurance in your heart that you are in God’s will, and you will find God’s plan and purpose for you unfolding in your life.

Well, in all your ways acknowledge him.

Have you learned to do that?

To look for God’s hand in every single circumstance in your life when things are tough, when things are good, to acknowledge God that He is good, that He is there, that He loves you, that He’s involved in your life even when life is tough, trusting Him, that He is working out His plan for you and that His plan is good and loving.
