Faithful in Every Way

How do you do with New Year’s resolutions? I must admit, I gave up on making them many years ago. It’s not because I don’t believe I’m capable of committing to a decision and following through on it, but rather because the things that matter most to me, I’ve already made a commitment to.

In other things, though, I’ve learned I need to be prepared that I’ll fail, and what I do then is important. Will I acknowledge my shortcoming and try again – doing my best? Will I scrap the goal and accept failure?

As imperfect people, we know that we sometimes fail to do what we want to do. I’m not a perfect model of faithfulness. It’s important I accept that, after all, this is what Jesus gave His life for.

When He says He will not leave nor forsake you – He means it and won’t change. Because He is and always will be faithful.

So, is anyone entirely faithful? There’s only one. God. Today’s verse reminds us again that God is faithful in all His Words and gracious in His actions. God is faithful, and He won’t change.

When He says He loves you – He means it and won’t change. When He says He forgives you – He means it and won’t change. When He says He desires a relationship with you – He means it and won’t change. When He says He will not leave nor forsake you – He means it and won’t change. Because He is and always will be faithful.

It’s not because He doesn’t know what it is for someone to be faithless. No, God knows the sting of us letting Him down. But He remains faithful to us.

If you’ve ever been let down by someone – let this be your reminder that there’s one whom you can fully trust. The Lord.
