Good morning.

As you head into this day, just remember that time with God is your number one priority in life and the most important thing for giving stability, security, and a firm foundation to your life. Jesus told us, Remember, if you hear my words and act on them, you’re like the man who built his house on a solid rock, and the storms of life came.

Walking with God doesn’t mean that He keeps you from having the hard, difficult experiences of life.

But he said they beat on that house and the house stood firm because it had a firm foundation in the same way as you build your life on your time with God, with your Bible open in front of you, hearing His Word, acting on it. Your life has that firm foundation. The storms are going to come, but your life will stand against those storms.

We’re talking this week on the theme of Together we are Stronger, and this theme comes out so often in scripture. You think even about the way that we were made as people. Remember when God created Adam in the Garden of Eden, and there were all the animals there and Adam named all the animals and the animals were there and were multiplying and Adam saw all of this and it says that God saw that Adam was alone, and He said it is not good for the man to be alone.

And so he made Eve, he made the helper, the woman to be his partner in life.

Jesus talks about this. It says in Matthew 19:3 in the Bible. Some pharisees came to Jesus testing Him and saying,

Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any cause at all? And he answered and said, have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female? And said for this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. Consequently, they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore, God has joined together, let no man separate.

And so there’s this beautiful institution of marriage that God put in place in life because of this principle that together we are so much stronger than we are alone and He wanted to create a lifelong bond, a commitment, a covenant of love together that would cement the power of people living life together in committed relationships.

This is what God wants for your life, not only in marriage, but in your relationships with other people in your life, that you learn not to live life as an island, isolated from all the people around you. Just going to work, doing your thing at your own computer or digging your ditches or whatever it is that you’re working on during the day and then coming home and isolating yourself with your computer, your TV, your book, and not building your life around the relationships in your life. You know, when you do that, you are really hurting yourself and severely limiting the impact of your life because God designed us to be working in partnership with other people.

And as we do things in partnership, as we join together, the output of our life, the impact of our life, the strength, the stability of our life just goes through the roof. So think about your life right now and consider this: how can you strengthen the relationships in your life so that you and the people you are in relationship with are growing closer to God.

And more fully fulfilling his purpose for you.
