Good morning.
Well, it’s so good every weekday morning at this time to stop, to listen to God, to take some time with God, read His Word, the Bible, and let Him shape our lives. After all, if He is the God of this universe who created the universe, who designed humanity, and decided that you would be born into this world. Isn’t it reasonable to assume that he has a perspective on life that we need.
And that we should be building our lives around our relationship with Him, especially given the fact that this life is not the end, that when this life ends, we go on. You live in your body, but you are not your body, right? You have a spiritual existence that’s going to go on, and you’re going to go on in a relationship with God.
It’s so important in this life to begin a healthy relationship with God. And if you’re experiencing the brokenness of life and you say my life is such a mess, I feel the brokenness of my life. Well, what you need in life at its core, yes, you may need money, you may need forgiveness from somebody, you may need a lot of things in life.
But the most foundational need you have in life is for a relationship with God.
And you can begin that just by coming to God in your brokenness and saying – God, I need you. I know I’ve offended you in many ways. I know I’ve sinned in many ways, but what I want is your forgiveness. And to start a new relationship with you.
Do you know that that’s why Jesus came into our world and died, to make a way for you to be forgiven and to start a relationship with God. He took God’s judgement. All God’s anger towards the way you’ve offended Him in life. Jesus took all of that, faced God’s judgement and anger at the cross, so that what you can experience from God is forgiveness, love, adoption into His family, a whole new way of life.

That’s what you need in life, and I encourage you to focus your time on God. Put Him first in your day. Start your day by reading His word and talking to Him.
Well, we’ve been talking all this week about giving our time to God.
And I want to start with where a passage yesterday out of the Bible ended and read the next few verses. 2 Corinthians chapter 5 in the Bible, starting in verse 1.
It says, for we know that if the tent that is our earthly home, and that’s a word picture for your physical body, and really here the apostle Paul is talking to people who are either old or sick and facing death. And I want to talk to you specifically today.
This passage says if the tent that is our earthly home, if our body is destroyed, we will have a building from God.
A building, a body to live in, a house not made with hands, but that is eternal in the heavens. For in this tent, this body we groan, and if you’re old or your body is giving out, you know that’s true, right? In this tent we groan, longing to put on our heavenly dwelling.
If indeed by putting it on we may not be found naked, our spirits, that is not found naked, for while we are still in this tent, this body, we groan, being burdened, not that we would be unclothed, but that we would be further clothed, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
And he who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee that that’s what’s going to happen.
Well, as you think about these days in your life, and you’re so aware of how short life is and that your life may not have too much time left in it.
Just be aware what’s coming if you have turned your life over to Jesus is what is said in these verses. What is mortal will be swallowed up by life.
That’s why it’s important to give your time to God.
Because this life is not the end, it’s what happens after your time on this earth is done that is the most important thing. And so you want to put God first in this life, so that your experience with God for all of eternity will be one that is full of joy, meaning, and purpose.
