Amy and Jono Vink couldn’t be more deserving of the second Fiji holiday in our Give the Best Break giveaway.

The couple, who have four children, are currently Missionaries in Residence at SMBC (Sydney Missionary Bible College), and have served as missionaries in Tanzania for nearly 10 years. Jono’s work in Tanzania involved teaching at a Bible College and running pastors groups, while Amy ran a café and workshop to employ and mentor disadvantaged women and children.

Sadly Amy has suffered from breast cancer and whilst she had a period of remission in Tanzania, the cancer has now returned and spread. The family are greatly in need of a break to recharge their emotional batteries.

The Fiji holiday prize from JC Travel Professionals was designed for a family of four, but Amy and Jono’s generous friends have passed the hat around to ensure that all four of their children will be able to go on the holiday.

Amy was a little speechless when she received the phonecall from Laura and Duncan telling her she had won. “God has always looked after us abundantly but this is quite the cherry on top! I’m very thankful and humbled,” she said.

She said the love they have been shown by their friends in this tough season of her illness has been a great support. “It’s a good reminder, God is sovereign but He never leaves us alone either. The community has been amazing and we’re so thankful for that.”
