Are you a dreamer? Someone who imagines what might become of your life, or what you’ll do with the rest of it?

Dreaming can be inspiring, but also hard when the dream seems like it’s not going to happen or that you’ve somehow messed it up.

Ann Voskamp is a Canadian author and blogger known for One Thousand Gifts, The Broken Way and her latest book, Waymaker: Finding the Way to the Life You’ve Always Dreamed Of.

On the UNDISTRACTED podcast, Ann spoke to Laura about hitting breaking point in her health and marriage, navigating your way out of life’s deepest valleys and what to do when reality doesn’t meet expectations.

“Our deepest desire and dream is to be fully known and fully seen, and then in that fully known-ness and fully seen-ness, to be fully loved,” Ann said.

“I think a lot of the things that we’re working toward in life, [we think], ‘If I arrive at this place, I will be known and seen and loved – if I accomplish this, or my life looks like this.”

We try to avoid pain, or avoid unexpected detours, but “can we trust that maybe some of these roadblocks, some of these obstacles, are actually God’s way of turning us from an unfulfilling meaningless life to one [that] makes way for me to bond to Him?,” Ann said.
