Nicola Gibb is one of the organisers and key speakers at The Penrith Tent, a five-night outdoor event to share the wonder of God with the local community.

“We are running nightly meetings,” Nicola told Hope Mornings.

“It will be worship, healing and hope.”

Between March 21 and 25, The Penrith Tent is a giant marquee where the life-changing power of God will be fan fared.

“If you have friends who don’t know God, it’s the perfect invitation: Come to the Tent! See you at the Tent,” Nicola said.

“You are not saying, ‘Come to church’ because sometimes church has that negative connotation to it.”

Between March 21 and 25, The Penrith Tent is a giant marquee where the life-changing power of God will be fan fared.

Nicola believed the relaxed, fun environment of The Big Tent can help some people interact with Christianity, even if they previously had avoided or ignored it.

Nicola is a Christian communicator, evangelist and firecracker of enthusiasm.

She is keen to tell the Big Tent visitors about the almost unbelievable difference God made to her when he “supernaturally healed my spine”.

“When I was 11, I got the amazing opportunity to represent Australia in the World Diving Championships,” Nicola said.

“My big dream was to go to the Olympics.

“I was on a really good trajectory for that but, at the age of 14, I had a massive diving accident off the 10-metre platform.

“Wrecked all my spine, neck and hips.

“I had to give up my sport.

“Broke my heart. Broke my body.”

For the next 15 years, Nicola was in chronic pain until she accepted an invite to church – and met God.

“The presence of God touched my back. I had all this heat go through my body and now I’m completely healed.”

Nicola had not been to church before or had much to do with God or Jesus.

She went because a new friend took an interest in her and strongly suggested Nicola search for “the ticket to the best party in the universe”.

Nicola was so taken aback and intrigued by her friend’s suggestion, she sold everything and followed her to New York City.

“She took me to this church and it was the first time I heard the gospel,” Nicola said.

The relaxed, fun environment of The Big Tent can help some people interact with Christianity, even if they previously had avoided or ignored it.

“The good news that I could have salvation, healing, deliverance and eternal life just by faith, just by believing in Jesus.”

Wow. But wait. Does that mean if I come to The Penrith Tent to seek healing, I will instantly be remedied as Nicola was?

“Some people get instantly healed and some go on a journey,” Nicola said.

“One thing, rest assured, you will definitely feel the presence of God.

“So whether he wants to instantly heal you [or not], you will definitely start that journey.

“And that is what The Tent is all about: have an encounter with God.”
