How You Can Pray for Christians in Most Dangerous Countries this Easter

As Easter approaches for another year, I find myself reflecting on how lucky we are to live in a country free of Christian persecution. More than 350 million Christians across the world don’t have the same privilege.

Earlier this year, Open Doors recently released their annual World Watch List – detailing the most dangerous countries to be a Christian. Topping the list for the 30th year in a row was North Korea, where any of the estimated 400,000 Christians that live there can be instantly executed if they are found with a Bible.

Open Doors operate through local partners on the ground, in secret, to support Christians in any way they can – through Bibles, funds and other supplies.

“Getting information out of [these countries] is extremely difficult, but there are ways that [Open Doors] do it,” Open Doors Global CEO Dan Ole Shani told Hope Drive.

However, despite their persecution, Christians in these countries are often filled with joy and hope.

“The believers in these countries know that this is a lifesaving decision to follow Jesus Christ, and therefore, they are not in despair,” Dan said.

Dan encouraged Australian Christians to pray specifically for the global persecuted Church across the Easter weekend – for peace, strength and joy in the face of hardship.
